This post is about a 35mm stem by a brand named Fifty-Fifty. The steerer tube diameter is 31.8mm which is a standard size for modern mountain bikes.

I picked this up on Amazon for $54.99 because I wanted a shorter stem than what my stock 2023 Specialized Rockhopper Sport had. That bike came stock with a stem length of 60mm for a size Medium bike.

Now, I’m 5’4” inches tall. For me, reaching for the handlebars wasn’t really bad but I wanted to see how it felt with a shorter stem. I’d be just a liiittle bit more upright and I suspected my back and shoulders would welcome that.

So far, I’ve been riding with this new stem for about a month and I like it. The difference isn’t huge by any means but it’s noticeable enough to comment on it.

So, if you’re a shorter rider like me on a medium sized bike similar to the geometry that the 2023 Rockhopper Sport has, I’d say give it a try. It’s a small investment to riding more comfortably. This stem, for the price, gets a 10 out of 10 from me.
