Trail Riding Experience So Far

So I’ve been riding for about 3 months now. I’ve done the novice trail at my local bike park more than a handful of times and have hopped in an out of the blue line. I’ve also checked out another park in the area and rode the blue line there with relative ease.

My First Fall

Over the last 3 months, I managed to get by all of these trails without falling or crashing and then this weekend when I was out, I was riding through a berm and then my bike slipped out from under me. Before I knew it, I was going down and hit the crushed up white rocks that covered the berm. My left knee skid through terrain and my hand caught the ground before the rest of my body fell further into it.

What a rush! My first fall and I didn’t break anything.

Falling Some More

I got up, shook it off and rode again, and then fell again, and then rode again and fell again! Three times all in the same day!

Thanks to Poc Knees Pads, I Rode Away Unscathed

As someone new to the sport, experiencing my first crash was kinda of wild haha but I’m glad I came prepared that day. I bought a pair of Poc knee pads a little over a month ago but never wore them. I don’t know why I hadn’t, I think I just didn’t want to wear anything more than my shorts and shirt in the Florida heat but something was telling me to wear them before I rode out that day and my knees are glad I listened.

I managed to ride away with my skin still in tact and scrape free! Now I’m pretty impressed with these knee pads. They actually weren’t all that bad or uncomfortable to wear. They’re light, breathable, and easy to get on and off so, I think from now on, knees pads are going to be a part of my everyday riding gear.

What do you think? Do you all wear knee pads when you ride?
